Tim Earls Quotes

Tim Earls was the creative director of B5/Crusade and is the brain behind the Warlock Class Destroyer. As such, no source is more accurate about the details of this ship. Luckilly, Tim is a very nice guy and is ready and willing to answer fans' questions. In order to make his life easier, I have posted all of the quotes I could find in order to cut down on the number of redundant questions asked to him. This is intended to be a central source for his quotes regarding his creation. If you have any additional quotes from him (or anyone else involved), please send them to me.
In the interest of maintaining the integrety of the data, I have not trimmed the quotes. His entire posting is shown for each entry, including irrelivant data. I feel that this is important to ensure that the context is not taken out of place. Links to discussion groups are posted where possible. While the questions are not currently added, I will append them at a later date.

Let me get a few things straight:without getting into particulars: the Warlock has 12 large missile silos, 16 small silos, 2 particle beam cannon, 9 heavy phased plasma cannon turrets (sim. to Nova class), 3 heavy railgun turrets, 4 medium phased plasma turrets (sim. to Omega class), 9 light PP turrets, around 12-16 short range PP turrets (as on the Olympus) and a number of various small calibre energy and projective AA placements. Regarding the particle beam cannon...this is the first mobile platform to carry them. Before, because they are so powerful, they were only mounted on stationary platforms like defense satellites. The particle beam cannon on the Warlock are located under the nose just over the launch bay.
The recovery/shuttle deck is amidship on starboard side.
If you want to know anything else, I'm the one to ask. It's my baby.

Ish'tar.....all is forgiven. I was just taken aback as I didn't know this would happen. But I'm happy that the fans now get a look at this leviathan which was denied in ACTA. For anyone who is interested, accurate blueprints and schematics of the Warlock are in the pipeline.
To answer one of the above questions: the 3 tapered-barrel turrets are indeed rail guns.
The boom in front is the forward sensor/navigation/communications array. If you look closely you will see two tapered blue panels, one on either side of the boom. These unfold as petals in hyperspace to allow the Warlock to stray from established beacons, thus increasing its operational range.
As a bit of trivia, my first swipe at this ship was not used so it has become a Mobile Strategic Operations Platform (MSOP) Trafalgar class.........it's essentially a Warlock sized aircraft carrier. The 'Art of Babylon 5' book has been nixed so I'll see what I can do to let you guys have a look at it too.

I forgot to mention that the openings on the lower flanks are cargo/ordnance airlocks.

Jack.....Neat headbanging icon there. To answer a question: I've been putting in 12 hour days at Trek including weekends as we've had back to back intensive episodes to design.
To answer another question....yes, there is SOME Minbari tech in the Warlock...notably the gravitic-based installations like the artificial gravity and drives systems. The armour, however, is not based on Minbari designs (nudge nudge wink wink...say no more)
And no, I didn't tell Rick about the 'toilet seat' LOL.....but I'm sure he's heard it all. But yes, Rick is a wonderful guy.

Let me clarify: the Warlock's drivers consist of 4 uprated Omega type engines (2 on either side) and 2 hybrid gravitic engines (meaning that they are of Earth "manufacture and design" modelled on Minbari technology and propulsion theory but using Earth-based materials). Hope that was clearer.

I'll relay the congrats, Jack. The episode that won was Dark Frontier (ya know...the one with the evil Borg queen of the West). The Borg queen 'assembly' scene was awesome. I seriously thought it was a mechanical effect until I was set straight.
BTW, guys....I haven't sorted out ALL the internals of the Warlock....so you've got plenty to argue about until I do! LOL

Hiya. John Eaves left at the end of DS9....but I understand that he has moved on......I'm not sure but I think ILM or some place like that.
I just discussed the Equinox with Rick.... the torp tubes are in the same vicinity as Voyager.....near the main deflector.
On the Warlock, all fighters launch from front just like an Omega.....however, unlike the Omega, the fighters do not returnthe same way. It's a one way launch bay. All fighters return to the starboard side recovery bay amidship. Also, shuttlesdo not use the forward launch bay, they leave thru the recovery bay. The structure on the port side opposite the recovery bay house all the bay's maintenance shops. In addition, because the fighter launch bay faces forward, I've included blast doors to prevent the bay from scooping up debris (a minor flaw with the Omegas).
