STARGATE UNIVERSE
A new trailer, titled "Philosophical," for SCI FI Channel's upcoming STARGATE UNIVERSE, debuted last night during the airing of Stargate Continuum. STARGATE UNIVERSE is a spinoff of STARGATE SG-1 and STARGATE ATLANTIS and follows the adventures of explorers who start off on a reconnaissance mission to the Destiny, a ship built by the Ancients, only to wind up on a never-ending mission when the crew learns the ship can't return to Earth. It debuts later this year on SCI FI.

PRISONERS
This morning the Hollywood Reporter writes that Christian Bale has attached himself to PRISONERS, joining Mark Wahlberg that Bryan Singer has indicated he would like to direct. There is no official confirmation on this. Plot description: After his 6-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a small-town carpenter butts heads with a young, brash detective in charge of the investigation. The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.

NEW FREDDY KREUGER
Jackie Earle Haley is the new Freddy Krueger. The actor will star as the iconic screen villain in New Line's redo of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, taking over the role that was played by Robert Englund. The original NIGHTMARE, released in 1984, helped establish New Line and spawned a slew of movies. Krueger is a serial child killer murdered by angry parents who returns to terrorize teens in their dreams. His burned face, his razor glove and his red-and-green sweater became instantly recognizable images as well as popular Halloween costumes.
Haley made a splash in the 1970s as a child star in movies like THE BAD NEWS BEARS then faded in the early 1990s. He left the business, and wound up working odd jobs in Texas. Haley burst back on the scene in 2006 playing a pedophile in Todd Field's LITTLE CHILDREN. He was praised for his portrayal of Rorschach in the recent WATCHMEN and next appears in Martin Scorsese’s SHUTTER ISLAND.

SLUMDOG MEETS 24
SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE co-star Anil Kapoor has joined Fox's drama "24" as a regular on the show's upcoming eighth season. He will play a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission. A Bollywood icon who has appeared in more than 100 films in his native India, Kapoor received a worldwide recognition for playing game show host Prem Kumar in the Oscar-winning SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

STAR TREK PG-13
Paramount is releasing new images from J.J. Abrams' upcoming STAR TREK. They are from scenes we've seen in the trailers already released. Paramount announced that the film has received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America for "sci-fi action and violence and brief sexual content."

IRON MAN 2
Robert Downey, Jr. recently talked with Entertainment Tonight while promoting his upcoming film THE SOLOIST. He revealed some new details on his upcoming sequel, IRON MAN 2. Here's the excerpt:
"The film is almost entirely about character, and yet we still have twice as much action as we did last time, so it's going to be nuts." "Essentially IRON MAN 2 is about looking behind the armor, or the armature, of a superhero. It's one thing to say you're Iron Man, it's another thing to be fully ready to do that."
Robert says he's no longer on his strict SHERLOCK HOLMES diet and has returned to some serious iron to once again portray Tony Stark: "I'm on Beefcake Charlie status," he jokes. "I've got to not be the skinny Brit anymore. I have to be the Tony that you know and may have loved."
As for co-star Scarlett Johansson, who plays the femme fatale Black Widow in the sequel, Robert says, "We've been rehearsing and she's in insane shape. She's getting lean and mean."
IRON MAN 2 is said to go before cameras shortly and is set for a May 7, 2010 release.

DISCUSSION TOPIC - CLIFFHANGERS

I bet you are like me -- having a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers. I love the excitement leading up to the edge when you can't wait to see what will happen next. I hate when this is done as the series comes to an end. Will you ever know how it all comes together -- does it come together? One of my favorite shows, Kyle XY ended in a cliffhanger last night. Great show -- but with the series having been cancelled by ABC Family, we may never know what happens to Kyle or Jessi or Latnock. There were always so many stories twirling around this very well-made series, there was something to bring you back each week. I will truly miss Kyle XY and hope that the final curtain hasn't been drawn on this one. How about you? Do you like cliffhangers?

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, a new musical based on the beloved Laura Ingals Wilder series of classic American books, will launch a nationala tour in October at The Ordway Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota, following a five-week engagement beginning September 10 at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, N.J. Melissa Gilbert, who rose to fame as a child playing 'Laura' in the hugely successful NBC television series "Little House on the Prairie" during the 1970's, now continues her legacy 'on the prairie' by taking on the role of Ma. LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE will also star Steve Blanchard as Pa and Kara Lindsay as Laura.

For years I have seen companies like Entertainment Earth sell figurines and ship models for practically every science fiction, fantasy, horror or anime that you can imagine. One big missing product line is Babylon 5. I never understood this as there is a large fan base. I have always wanted a good model of a Whitestar.
Recently on eBay I found a company, www.eModelAirplanes.com selling high quality wooden models of aircraft, spacecraft and science fiction starships. They have a large collection of Babylon 5 spacecraft from Shadow ships to Babylon 5 itself. I bought a Whitestar model. It is gorgeous and is of the high quality expected of professionally crafted aircraft models. My photo doesn’t do it justice.

REVIEW:
I am a big fan of Charlie Brown -- have been for years. There seems to be something for everyone in any Charlie Brown story. In this one, Charlie Brown hopes to win the motocross race, despite being "Unlucky Number 13". While there is always a great story, each person can take away something different -- whether it be the virtue of being a good sport, whether you win or not -- or just the spirit of participation. It is a good way to introduce little folks to good sporstsmanship as well. It is always great when the gang gets together -- Charlie, Snoopy, Pepermint Patty.
Also included on this the special, YOU'RE THE GREATEST, CHARLIE BROWN. Charlie is recruited to represent his school by competing in the decathlon for the Junior Olympics. Peppermint Patty trains Chuck in all ten events. Charlie Brown wins several events and has a chance to win the entire Junior Olympics for his school.
