TORCHWOOD: NEW WORLD
During a press tour on Saturday, creator Russell T. Davies talked about the upcoming TORCHWOOD: NEW WORLD, saying
that there will be a significant amount of storytelling in the U.S. In fact, the show will visit many shores beyond
Cardiff.
"It has this global sweep to it which is justified by the story. I hate to say 'international in scope' because it
usually means a scene set in Berlin for no reason."
Davies hadn't automatically planned to continue TORCHWOOD, but then changed his mind after "Children of Earth" aired.
"[It] got phenomenal figures in Britain and did beautifully over here on BBC America," he says. "There was just a
buzz about it. 'Children of Earth' was a new form of 'Torchwood' and something clicked. It just inspired me. The
story of the new 'Torchwood' is something that's been ticking away in the back of my head for a long while."
TORCHWOOD picks up a while after the events of "Children of Earth," but still deals with Capt. Jack Harkness' (John
Barrowman) state of mind after those devastating events that left him dispirted. Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) will also
be back. A new character, CIA agent Rex Matheson -- who's yet to be cast -- will serve to introduce new audiences
to the world of TORCHWOOD.
"Rex has no idea what Torchwood is and has to investigate," explains Davies. "Torchwood has been destroyed. It's ike
a legend now, it's almost ceased to exist a long time ago and is spoken only of in whispers. We also have a watch
analyst at the CIA called Esther. The two of them become embroiled in the Torchwood legend and investigate what
Torchwood is or was and they find themselves on the run and meeting Captain Jack and Gwen, having to decide whether
they're friends, whether they're enemies. It's a decision that takes a long time to be decided. That's part of the
10 episodes is the two teams coming together, a lot of sparks, a lot of excitement."
Despite the global scope, TORCHWOOD won't abandon its Welsh roots. "The Welsh setting still features in a really
significant way as we move forwards so when we start filming in January, we will start filming in Wales," confirms
executive producer Julie Gardner. "There will be beautiful landscapes. Gwen Cooper is still that character. She's
still Welsh. Her story will take place in the U.S. but also very much in the UK, so that flavor of Wales will be
very apparent."
Since filming has not yet begun, Davies has few details to share, but we also learn:
•Rhys Williams (Kai Owen) will be back with their baby.
•Sorry Capt. John Hart fans, but James Marsters is not going to be in this 10-episode season, but he's still
in good with Davies for possible future participation.
•The new series continuous and very arced.
•Scheduling of the new "Torchwood" will be "very close" on both sides of the pond.
•Since the show is on a premium cable network, "Torchwood" can have nudity in sex scenes, but Davies is only sold
on that if the story demands it. "There's nothing worse than a great big global international thriller that stops
for a sex scene. Get on with it please."
TORCHWOOD will run in Summer 2011 on Starz.
TEEN WOLF ON MTV
With the popularity of TWILIGHT, the entire story line for werewolfs has changed. Gone is the 1985 Michael J. Fox
comedy that inspired the original "Teen Wolf". Werewolves are now a lot darker and broodier. In fact, the star of
MTV's TEEN WOLF, Tyler Posey, was one of many actors considered for Taylor Lautner's role of Jacob Black.
There's still a sense of humor to the show. The promotional material handed out at the Television Critics Association's
summer press tour includes the tagline "Puberty with fangs!" (And the line "A love triangle of desire, overwhelming
urges, a hunger for more.")
MTV execs explained that the "lead character, Scott, struggles with his animal instincts both as a creature of the
night and as a young boy entering manhood." In the short presentation we saw, Scott's first experience with his new
powers is supersonic hearing, which helps him win the heart of the new girl in school, Alison.
Unfortunately, it's not all fun and games. Scott's fun is thwarted by werewolf hunters in town. "We see it as
Hatfield-McCoys," executive producer Jeff Davis says of the hunters and the werewolves. "It's a centuries-long
feud between two societies. The hunters have essentially gone through the centuries seeking out werewolves and
destroying their kind."
Scott (whose last name is McCall, not Howard like the movie character) becomes more attractive to women as a result
of the transformation. "One of the powers is to attract girls," Posey says, laughing. "Before, I was bit - I was
a loser, an outcast in school. Now I catch the attention of Lydia, the mean girl, and Alison. I get great at my
sport, lacrosse, and I'm just an all-star."
Director Russel Mulcahy - who, notably, won the first ever MTV Moonman and directed Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the
Wolf" - says that lacrosse was chosen above the original basketball for strategic reasons. "You can credibly hide
some of the transformation, and it's an incredibly violent game," he notes.
Though the tonality of "Twilight" and "The Vampire Diaries" certainly resonates, the werewolves here are going to
look very different. "They have werewolves you can pet," Davis says. "We want to have a werewolf you can kiss."
The werewolf mythology will also be changed up. TEEN WOLF will have beta, alpha, and omega wolves. "Omegas are the
monsters," says star Tyler Hoechlin, who plays Derek. "I play a little bit older beta on his way to becoming an
alpha. I'll be closer to developing like an actual wolf."
Derek takes Scott under his wing after biting him and infecting him with the curse. "It's more of a master/apprentice
relationship. As to whether [Derek] is a protagonist or antagonist, it's kind of up for debate."
The series goes into production in October in Atlanta.

SECOND SEASON OF V
ABC announced that Jane Badler, star of the original 1983 "V," will join the ABC remake next season in the recurring
role of alien leader Anna's (Morena Baccarin) mother. Badler's character, Diana, gets her introduction in the
midseason premiere and will play a pivotal role in Season 2's development of the alien mythology. It is not yet
known if Badler plans to bring back Barbarella locks back with her.
TORCHWOOD-SEASON 4
Season 4 of the British sci-fi series TORCHWOOD looks to be more Americanized than originally thought. Following
the BBC's deal to co-produce the 2011 return with U.S. cable network Starz, creator Russell T. Davies is now working
with several American TV writers to help script the 10-episode order.
The Chicago Tribune reports that three new writers come from the U.S. and each has an impressive sci-fi pedigree.
Doris Egan ("House," "Tru Calling"), Jane Espenson ("Battlestar Galactica," "Buffy," "Caprica") and John Shiban
("Breaking Bad," "Supernatural," "The X-Files") will all write episodes in the coming season, in addition to Davies
and "Torchwood" alum John Fay.
And these won't be stand-alone episodes like those from the series' first two seasons. Davies maintains that Season 4
will follow the formula of plot-focused "Torchwood" miniseries "Children of Earth."
As previously reported, the new, bigger-budget TORCHWOOD will also film in North America, filling out its whittled-
down cast -- only John Barrowman and Eve Myles remain -- with international actors.
Season 4 starts production in January, with an official summer 2011 release date expected to be announced sometime
before then.
QUANTUM LEAP REMAKE

the big news with the 600 fans who attended:

Deadline New York reports that 20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights to writer Mark Millar ("Wanted," "Kick-Ass")
and artist Steve McNiven's graphic novel NEMESIS, with Tony Scott attached to direct and Scott Free producing. Marvel
describes the title as follows:

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: 4
Ving Rhames, who stars in the upcoming PIRANHA, revealed on Wednesday's episode of Lopez Tonight that he'll return as
Luther Stickell in Paramount's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE IV. He played the character in the first three movies.
He'll be joining Tom Cruise and possibly Simon Pegg, who is reportedly in talks to return as Benji Dunn, in the Brad
Bird-directed action thriller scheduled for a release on December 16, 2011.
J.J. Abrams is producing the fourth installment, written by Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec.
The film is said to be targeting a September start.

KEEPING UP WITH CAST AND CREW
NANCY STAFFORD
Ranger Anne sent in this report for B5 cast member Nancy Stafford. She appeared as archeologist Dr.
Mary Kirkish in the B5 Season 3 episode "Messages From Earth." She's also known for playing Ben
Matlock's law partner Michelle Thomas in the series "Matlock." In recent years, she's written
several Christian books and shot the upcoming faith-based holiday film "Christmas With a Capital C."
Nancy Stafford will be appearing in the indie romantic comedy film "Three Times a Lady," starring Kevin
Sorbo.
The story deals with Reverend Shepherd (Sorbo), a sincere preacher who hears several "stories" about a
certain member of his congregation. Being a "voice of reason," Shepherd is on a mission to "restore the
truth."
Stafford's character is the town cougar who repeatedly comes to the rescue during the film.
"Three Times a Lady" was written by Darlene Lofgren and Barbara Kerr Condon (who's also the producer).
Condon is better known as an actress who's appeared in such TV shows as "Mad Men" & "Big Love," and
films such as the Coen Brothers' "Intolerable Cruelty." The film is currently in development.

still considered by Warner Bros to still be $80 million in the hole after $100 million in costs for all 5

John in Jersey puts forth his theory on what exactly the Triluminary was really reacting to (was it reacting to
Minari souls in humans, or human DNA in Minbari?); Jim Stiles thinks the Triluminary was scanning for junk DNA
markers common to both Minbari and humans; James agrees with Bret that the soul transfer argument was religious
caste hand-waving, and there’s a genetic component that it’s reacting to.
Summer posits that maybe Valen wasn’t a human fully transformed into a Minbari, but was a human-Minbari hybrid
just like Delenn transformed into. Having them both be hybrids answers some of the questions recently brought
up by our insatiable curiosity. Thoughts?

Synopsis
In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between

Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, Perseus and his warriors will only survive if Perseus accepts his power as

REVIEW
I really didn't know what to expect from this movie. The reviews were mixed and like most remakes, CLASH OF
THE TITANS will always be compared to the one before -- in this case the 1981 version starring Harry Hamlin as
Perseus. This version is a more realistic Bronze age world, but the story hasn`t changed all that much. The
citizens of Argos have become disenchanted with the rule of the Gods. The Gods have caused too much chaos and
ruin to their lives so they've decided to take their destinies into their own hands, and destroy the temples
and statues of the Gods. In doing so, Perseus'(Sam Worthington) family is killed by a falling statue of Zeus.
When Zeus (Liam Neeson) learns of the desecration urged on by Hades (Ralph Fiennes), he decides to destroy the
city in four days or they can offer the sacrifice of the King of Argos' daughter Andromeda (Alexa Davalos). In
a visit to the throne room of Argos, Hades tells Perseus he is a son of Zeus, a demi-god. Being told of his near
divinity, Perseus and a group of soldiers go off on their quest to save the city.
The advances in special effects are very evident in this movie. They are great! The monsters look real and the
characters realistically interact with them. The giant scorpions look deadly, Medusa is creepy, and the Kraken
is HUGE. I sort of had a flashback to STAR WARS as I watched the heroes riding the scorpions with the help of
a tribe of warriors made of stone. The photography is awesome.
The special features are wonderful as well. You follow the crew as they build the ships and sets. This project
became a labor of love for everyone. This is a good adventure movie everyone should enjoy.
SUPER FRIENDS

This series just keeps going and going. This season opens with trama in the ER -- both patients and doctors are
affected. The drama builds as Abby has her baby and Sam is kidnapped by her ex-husband. Each episode of the series
is filled not only with your usual hospital drama, but deep charcterizations that have made this series a favorite
for years. Even if you haven't been following the series for years, you can enjoy the well-written episodes that
involve some very good segments showing surgery and trama medicine, but you'll quickly get caught up in the personal
lives of the staff at County General. This season includes guest appearances from Forrest Whitaker, who received
an emmy nomination for his role as Curtis Ames, a former patient of Dr. Kovac who sues him for malpractice.
DARK BLUE – THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON

get a little information on each of the main characters -- just enough to keep you watching! Dylan McDermott is an
awesome actor and he fits the persona outlined for Lt. Carter Shaw. In the pilot, one of the main characters says,
he will do anthing to protect you and anything to get the bad guy. It's just hard figuring out which one comes first."
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, you get that feel of realism and you are on the edge of your seat with each episode.
There is a good bit of violence, so it may be a bit much for some. But the violence fits the feel of this cable TV
show -- dark and hard. I can't wait to see what season two brings.

Iain Stewart takes you on a journey to some of the most remote parts on the Earth. The journey is divided into water,
deep earth, wind and fire. Each segment will show how these elements have affected history on Earth. Water, or the lack
of it in places like the Sahara Desert, has shifted the balance of power. He traces how ancient people tried to manage
water and how water affected the economy as well as culture of civilization.
BBC has done an awesome job on this DVD. The photography is amaing. You follow Stewart as he ventures underwater to see
where caves lead; down caverns and caves to see how ancient civilizations built tunnels to manage water. Ever wonder
about the faults of the Earth? You will learn all about them and see how they have been dealt with from ancient times.
A very educational -- and entertaining -- DVD.

REVIEW
I loved this series from the very first episode. When we got to Season Three, there were moments of "soap opera"
stories, but because the characters were so well developed, you wanted to see how things would work out. When
new characters were introduced, like Jake Hartman, you want Nina to be happy, but you know she loves Andy and hope
he realizes his feelings for her before it is too late!

BABYLON 5 MUSIC VIDEOS AND TRIBUTES
I found this message on the Babylon 5 moderated newsgroup this morning and just
had to post it so that others might enjoy the marvelous music videos created by
John Hudgens.

As some of you may know, I was hired by Joe Straczynski back in the
day to create Babylon 5 music videos for him to use at science fiction
conventions, and later to promote the show to networks. Eight were
produced over the run of the series, not including the memorial videos
I did later for Rick Biggs and Andreas Katsulas.
For the longest time, the only way to see these was if Joe or I showed
them at a convention, but now, after numerous requests from fans over
the years, Joe has given me permission me to post these online.
- This is the extended version that I did for Andreas' widow ater the
original cut was released on the net. It's never been seen online
until now.
For those of you who've never seen these, I hope you enjoy them - and
for those that have (and emailed me many times over the years about
releasing them), I hope they're as good as you remember. Working with
Joe on these videos was one of the highlights of my career, and I'll
be forever grateful to him for the doors these have opened for me. I'm
proud to have them on my resume.
