STAR TREK ONLINE
The Associated Press reports that Star Trek
Online, a massively multiplayer online game, is in active development. Game
developer Cryptic Studios Inc. recently announced that it had secured the rights
to develop and publish the game from CBS Consumer Products after now-defunct Perpetual
Entertainment canceled its plans for a similar game. Players will begin Star Trek
Online as the captain of a small Starfleet or Klingon Empire ship. They can customize
their characters from pre-existing Trek species and can create entirely new alien races.
As they progress through the game, players can increase in rank and gain larger vessels
and more crew and engage in ship-to-ship battles. The game will be set a few generations
following the last Star Trek film and won't feature any familiar characters from the
movies or TV series. No release date has been set for the game's debut. More details
about the game will be announced over the weekend in Las Vegas.

BATTLESTAR PREQUEL
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fans rejoice. The SCI FI Channel announced that it will air
a new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA two-hour prequel movie, set to air in 2009 following the
conclusion of the series. Directed by star Edward James Olmos, the as-yet-untitled
new film will be set before the events of the original Battlestar miniseries and will
focus on Cylons: Number One, known as Cavil (Dean Stockwell), resistance leader Sam T.
Anders (Michael Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Aaron Douglas). In the beginning, the
Cylons had a plan, but it didn't account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic
aftermath of the nuclear destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and
priorities on the human ships that got away and among the resistance fighters who were
left behind. The film will be written by Jane Espenson and will begin shooting in
Vancouver, Canada, at the end of the summer. After airing on SCI FI, it will be released
on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
The final 10 episodes of the fourth and last season of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will
begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.
PRIMEVAL
PRIMEVAL premieres at 9:00pm tonight on BBC America. The series has been a hit for
the past two years in the U.K., averaging better than 6 million viewers. PRIMEVAL
is a series about dinosaurs roaming around present-day England thanks to a tear in
the space-time continuum. In an interview conducted by Misfits of Sci-Fi, star
Douglas Hensall describes the series as somewhat like The A-Team with dinosaurs.
ROBIN HOOD
While we're talking about BBC America series, here's a tidbit about ROBIN HOOD (one
of my favorite shows). BBC America has picked up the series for a third season. The
show is currently filming in Hungary. Season three will pick up where the second
season, which concluded last week, left off, with Robin (Jonas Armstrong) bent on
revenge against Gisborne ( Richard Armitage) following a tragedy and the Sheriff's
(Keith Allen) failure to kill Prince John. The third season will also feature the
arrival of Friar Tuck (David Harewood, "Blood Diamond"). Should the series go to a
fourth season, star Jonas Armsstrong will probably be missing. He said in an interview,
"Playing Robin Hood has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life," he
says. "I'm grateful to the fans for their support and to all the cast and crew for
their friendship and loyalty throughout, but the time has come to take on new
challenges and look at new opportunities."
INGLORIOUS BASTARDS
Variety reports that Brad Pitt has officially signed on to play the lead in Quentin
Tarantino's new film, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS. Pitt will play a backwoods Tennessee soldier
who forms a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers. Tarantino has already cast filmmaker
Eli Roth for one of the roles, and it is said that casting will be complete in a matter
of weeks. Also, Simon Pegg, David Krumholtz and Natasha Kinski are in negotiations to
join the cast as well. Pegg would play a British lieutenant, Krumholtz will play a soldier
under Pitt's character and Kinski would play a German movie star. It was also said that
Tarantino mainstay Tim Roth was said to be up for a role, but there were scheduling
conflicts with his new television series, LIE TO ME. The film will commence production
on October 13 in Germany and Tarantino is aiming to finish the film in time for next year's
Cannes Film Festival.

REVIEW
I hadn't watched this series when it first came on the tube. I was never a fan of the
original movies, but when I began watching TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, I got
hooked. It is an interesting and exciting drama that reminds me a lot of some very old
TV series -- like THE IMMORTAL. In this case however, the baddies are almost invincible
robots.
Lena Headey is wonderful as Sarah Connor and Summer Glau is terrific as their
protector. If you have an afternoon when it's raining and not much on TV (and that happen
more and more lately), pick up this series and give it a try. Season Two begins shortly
and you'll be able to catch up very quickly.

WITCHBLADE: THE COMPLETE SERIES
Release date: July 29, 2008

Witchblade: The Complete Series
Synopsis:
In this adaptation of the Top Cow comic book, Witchblade is the story of a New York
detective, Sara "Pez" Pezzini, whose search for justice brings her into contact with
the Witchblade, an ancient, intelligent, living weapon so powerful it can battle
Earth's darkest evil forces. Week in and week out, "Pez" employs her skills as a
police detective to fight crime. She finds she must employ the Witchblade to combat
a much greater and frighteningly organized conspiracy of evil that threatens the
very soul of humanity. As Sara tries to keep the secret of the Witchblade, do her
job and have a personal life, she finds that her most formidable adversary may be
the Witchblade itself.
REVIEW:
I remember this series when it was on TNT and thought it was absolutely awesome. The
special effects for a TV drama were just astounding. Yancy Butler was unbelievable as
Sarah Pezzini - in the title role. She was perfect to play this very conflicted person
who saw so much injustice around her and was trying to make a difference not only be
being a policeman -- but by being a good policeman.
This was one of the most under-rated TV series of its day. The cast was wonderful and
you couldn't wait for the next week to see what would happen next as Sarah learned more
about the Witchblade and why she was chosen to wear it.

$7.50 "Movie Cash" to see The Dark Knight in theaters.
REVIEW
To me, this is the BEST BATMAN movie to date. While I loved Michael Keaton as BATMAN, Christian
Bale gives a more somber look to the caped crusader. Michael Caine is just wonderful as Alfred
as are Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.
While the story of BATMAN has been shown in many ways, Christopher Nolan does a wonderful
job of adding tone and emotion through lighting and shadows. Liam Neeson as Bruce Wayne's
early mentor is awesome and the final climax -- just the right touch of myth and wonder.
You leave the theater (or in this case your living room) with anticipation about the next
adventure in this saga. While you have seen BATMAN before, it hasn't been THIS BATMAN.
Let's not miss the toys! How about the Batmobile!!!! Can't you see that tooling down the
highway??? I wonder how many miles to a gallon it gets???
Timing for this DVD release was brilliant. For those who did not catch this film when it
first came out, there was time to catch up before going to THE DARK KNIGHT (released on July 18).
For those who went to see THE DARK KNIGHT, this DVD was on the shelve waiting to give the back
story and bring you up to date. I can't wait to see what is in the future for this one.
