SWAMP THING
Producer Joel Silver has a slew of genre movies coming down the pipeline, including
some about to hit theaters within the next year, including what he hopes is a new 3-D
version of SWAMP THING. During a recent interview promoting the thriller WHITEOUT,
he spoke about SWAMP THING.
Silver offered up hope that the remake he is developing might utilize 3-D technology.
"I'm going to hopefully do SWAMP THING, which is a movie we've had for a long time,
we think that might be great to do in 3-D," Silver said. "I've seen the AVATAR
presentation in 3-D. It's very impressive. It's really cool. I think it's great.
I think it's just another tool in the arsenal of the filmmaker to make something
great and unique. I don't think all movies need to be in 3-D but certain movies
fit really well into that situation. As of right now, there still are less 3-D
houses than 2-D houses. When the day comes that there are as many 3-D houses as
2-D houses then I may change my mind about it."
THE DESCENT: PART 2
IGN has debuted the trailer for THE DESCENT: PART 2, opening in the UK on December
4th. Directed by Jon Harris, the sequel stars Shauna MacDonald, Natalie Mendoza,
Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings.
In the film, Sarah (Macdonald) emerges alone from a cave system following an expedition
with her five friends in the Appalachian mountains. Distraught, injured and covered
in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear.
Skeptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah's psychosis hides far darker
secrets, Sheriff Vaines forces her back into the caves to help locate the rest of
the group. Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party are driven deep into the caverns,
and as one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed, Sarah is forced to confront
her deepest fears.
NEWS BITES CSI: MIAMI CAST ADDITION
CSI: MIAMI has a new medical examiner. Christian Clemenson will play a medical
examiner for at least two episodes. Clemenson won an Emmy in 2006 for his guest
role on BOSTON LEGAL playing a lawyer with Asperger syndrome.
SUCKER PUNCH
Variety reports that Oscar Isaac (The Nativity Story) has joined the ever-growing
cast of Zack Snyder's fantasy action movie SUCKER PUNCH, along with Jon Hamm, Emily
Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino and Vanessa Hudgens.
32 CANDLES
According to Variety, Miramax has acquired feature rights to Ernessa Carter's 32
CANDLES, a fairy tale about an ugly duckling from a Mississippi town who escapes
to Los Angeles. The novel's central character reinvents herself as a beautiful
lounge singer and runs into her high school crush.
DVD NEWS
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON FULL MOON EDITION drops on Blu-ray and DVD on
Sept. 15, with new featurettes and other bonus materials.
FUTURAMA: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION 1999-2009 lands as a 19-disc set Oct. 13 from
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, including all 72 episodes of the animated
cult series, as well as the four feature-length adventures: Bender's Big Score,
The Beast With a Billion Backs, Bender's Game and Into the Wild Green Yonder.
JMS AT FAN-CON THIS WEEKEND
J. Michael Straczynski will be attending the Fan-Con in Toronto next weekend,

Scooby-Doo is one of the favorite cartoons for many kids around the country. My nephew's

How good is that? In this collection, you see Scooby-Doo and his friends do what they
do best -- solve mysteries! Heck, I liked watching them as well. Scooby-Doo is fun
for all ages and if you are a fan of this series -- you just have to have the final
release. This two-disc set has wonderful episodes like "Diamonds are a Ghouls Best Friend"
and of course, the Scooby-Doo Christmas - bonus episode. If you are looking for good
family fun, don't miss this one.

REVIEW:
I have been a fan of SMALLVILLE since it began -- wow eight years ago! Where has the
time gone? It has been wonderful seeing the actors grow into their roles. While I miss
John Schneider and Michael Rosenbaum, Kristen Kreuk did come back for a brief period as
Lana Lang. However, Tess Mercer's addition (portrayed by Cassidy Freeman) has brought
new life to the Luther lab and this DVD series may be the best yet. There is plenty
of action and with Clark getting help from Oliver Queen (Justin Harley) as Green Arrow.
Allison Mack has always been wonderful as Chloe and she continues to light up the screen
whenver she is part of it. Can't say I'm a huge fan of Erica Durance. Her Lois Lane
leaves me wanting something more. In some episodes she is added more as an after
thought than as a plot staple.
All in all though, SMALLVILLE fans will have a lot to talk about and with the coming
new season, there are hopes for even greater adventures for Clark Kent.

REVIEW:
I got to see an advance copy of this DVD and was totally blown away by it. It tells the
story of GREEN LANTERN in an honest and exciting way. It takes you to the beginning, shows
you how Hal Jordan was selected by a dying Green Lantern and how he had to prove himself
to the others as Guardians of the Universe. The story is good and the animation is
wonderful. The voice actors are marvelous: Christopher Meloni is the voice of GREEN
LANTERN; Victor Garber is deliciously sly and evil as SINESTRO. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA's
Tricia Helfer is BOODIKKA. I loved KILOWOG played by Michael Madsen.
If you love comic books, this version of GREEN LANTERN is sure to please.
There were a few words I wish had been left out of the script and at times there seemed to
be a lot of fighting, so parents might want to watch this one before showing it to more
impressionalbe children.

BABYLON 5 MUSIC VIDEOS AND TRIBUTES
I found this message on the Babylon 5 moderated newsgroup this morning and just
had to post it so that others might enjoy the marvelous music videos created by
John Hudgens.

As some of you may know, I was hired by Joe Straczynski back in the
day to create Babylon 5 music videos for him to use at science fiction
conventions, and later to promote the show to networks. Eight were
produced over the run of the series, not including the memorial videos
I did later for Rick Biggs and Andreas Katsulas.
For the longest time, the only way to see these was if Joe or I showed
them at a convention, but now, after numerous requests from fans over
the years, Joe has given me permission me to post these online.
- This is the extended version that I did for Andreas' widow ater the
original cut was released on the net. It's never been seen online
until now.
For those of you who've never seen these, I hope you enjoy them - and
for those that have (and emailed me many times over the years about
releasing them), I hope they're as good as you remember. Working with
Joe on these videos was one of the highlights of my career, and I'll
be forever grateful to him for the doors these have opened for me. I'm
proud to have them on my resume.
