THE NIGHT STALKER:
The Night Stalker premieres Thursday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Stuart Townsend, who stars in the ABC series, says that
creator Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) hasn't told him much about the mythology behind the new show. "Frank's been very
evasive," Townsend said. In an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., Townsend
said, "He explained the concept minimally. And that really excited me, and I wanted to know more, but in a way I want to
respect that he's still formulating in his mind." Townsend (Queen of the Damned, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)
plays Carl Kolchak, a character originated by Darren McGavin in a string of television movies and a short-lived series in the
1970s. Kolchak is a newspaper reporter who specializes in stories of the unexplained. The new series will delve into investigations
of various phenomena, with a backdrop of a grander mystery to be slowly unraveled. Townsend added, "I hope he's written that
he can be quite ruthless when necessary, because I like that," he said. "I want him to have an edge. Every week I hope that
sometimes you'll really like Kolchak and sometimes you're not sure about him. And I like that ambiguity in a protagonist. As
Frank said, I don't think you've seen that much in TV. And I look forward to maybe being the bad guy or the good guy and
kind of osculating between them."
INVASION:
Creator of the new ABC SF series INVASION, Shaun Cassidy, says that the show will be grounded in reality. "I like dealing in sort
of a heightened reality. It's fun. I like it to be grounded. I like it to have plausible deniability, and that's what I strive for. I don't
want people to go, 'Oh, no, that couldn't happen.' There might be a moment or two where they go, 'I don't quite buy that,' but if
you can actually support it and explain it, in time people might come around if you give them enough truth." In an interview
at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., Cassidy acknowledged that the success of LOST helped
him get the show on the air, but the only thing they will have in common is the serialized nature of the storylines. "Studio men
are salesmen, and they want to sell what they can sell," he said. "If the cop show is the order of the day, they'll go to who's
written the cop shows. I've worked in this kind of stuff before, and I like it. Charles Dickens is my favorite writer, and he did
serialized work. He'd send a little installment to the paper or to the magazine once a month and people would hang in because
they like the characters. I get invested with characters." One of the challenges Cassidy has found is balancing those serialized
stories with more episodic ones to give the audience a sense of satisfaction at the end of each episode. "It's the biggest challenge,
because you never know how much to give and how much to withhold," he said. "And we go through the script. Sometimes we throw
everything in the script and we pare away, pare away. And again, you have to give room for the actors and the characters to have
the moments. You can't just be doing plot things, following plot points. And the breathing room scenes can sometimes be the most
interesting, especially if you have interesting characters and good actors, and we do." INVASION will follow LOST this season on
Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It premieres Sept. 21.
DAMN NATION:
Variety reports that MTV Films will produce a film adaptation of Andy Cosby's Dark Horse comic DAMN NATION, about a vampire
invasion of the United States. The comic is a three-issue miniseries which takes place after the country is evacuated due to a
devastating attack by vampires. As scientists search for a cure, the government is forced to relocate to London. Cosby will write
the screenplay and executive produce with Ross Richie. Paramount will distribute.
THE SIMPSONS:
There are a bundle of guests waiting to make their way onto THE SIMPSONS. This new season will find Bart Simpson's nemesis
returning and Homer will find a new foe as well, in the voice of Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, Kelsey "Sideshow Bob" Grammer, Oscar
winner Frances McDormand and Richard Dean "MacGyver" Anderson, will be among the guest voices on "The Simpsons" for
2005-06, FOX says. William H. Macy, Lily Tomlin, Terry Bradshaw and Dennis Rodman and "The Office" star Ricky Gervais, who
also wrote his episode, will also appear. The show's 17th season will open with Baldwin -- who previously played himself on
the show -- playing a marine biologist named Caleb Thorn who woos Marge (Julie Kavner) when she leaves Homer (Dan
Castellaneta) after he lets Fat Tony (Joe Mantegna) film an adult movie in their living room to pay off a gambling debt.
The Sideshow Bob episode hasn't been scheduled yet. When we last saw the homicidal former Krusty sidekick, he was
helping Homer solve a murder plot against him and found he couldn't kill Bart (Nancy Cartwright), having grown accustomed
to his face. Rodman and Bradshaw will both lend their voices to the annual "Treehouse of Horror" episode, which, despite
the fact that the season begins in September, will again air after Halloween. It's set for Sunday, Nov. 6.
SKY HIGH:
For those looking for some good family entertainment, you may want to consider SKY HIGH -- opening this weekend. For
a full review, go to comingsoon.netHere's a
snippet: Sky High is the latest Disney teen comedy about the pitfalls of adolescent life, but is much, much better than it seems like
it should be in large part due to its strong cast and assured direction. It is, by far, the finest piece of family entertainment so
far this year.
Sky High is rated PG for action violence and some mild language.

INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS being scripted by Dave Kajhanich reports Production Weekly. The story centers on Carol
(Kidman), who uncovers a conspiracy in a small town where the inhabitants' personalities seem to be changing. Shooting

MEMORABILIA WARS AUCTION - JULY 29:
On July 29, you will have a chance to purchase some STAR WARS history. Original Star Wars
producer Gary Kurtz will put props from his private collection up for sale in an auction
July 29 in what is being called the biggest auction of Star Wars items ever, Joe Maddalena,
president of the Profiles in History auction house. "This is the largest auction of screen-used
[Star Wars] memorabilia by a long shot," Maddalena said in an interview. "There's never been
an auction like this before." There is Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from the first Star Wars
movie and Darth Vader's lightsaber from Empire. "This is the only Luke Skywalker lightsaber
for sale," Maddalena said. "George Lucas must have others, but there never will be another
one for sale." "Kurtz wants to get his archive out for people to see, but he needs to raise
money to fund the conservation, preservation and exhibition [of his memorabilia]," Maddalena
said. "And this [auction] is the only way he can fund the archive." Kurtz will be holding on
to hundreds of other items, including never-seen footage and behind-the-scenes photographs.
Kurtz's items are part of a larger auction of Hollywood props and memorabilia, including the
original Yoda latex mask, script pages with George Lucas' handwritten notes, Luke Skywalker's
orange X-wing flight suit and a Chewbacca mask worn by actor Peter Mayhew.
Other items up for auction include non-STAR WARS items include Star Trek costumes worn by Jane
Wyatt and Mark Lenard as Amanda and Sarek, an amulet from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a leather
jacket worn by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
This is movie history going to the highest bidder -- and there is something for everyone --
even a sports jacket worn by Christopher Reeve and SOMEWHERE IN TIME. The movie listing of
items goes on and on. So be sure to drop over to
Profiles in History auction and have a look.
ALIAS
Just about everyone knows that Jennifer Garner is pregnant! How will the star -- and the ALIAS series -- cope? In a recent
interview during a press tour, Stephen McPherson, president of ABC entertainment, told reporters that the pregnancy will
be written into the show next season. "We are going to embrace the fact that she's pregnant," he said. "We're adding
some characters to give her some new dynamics and some relationships to play off of. In terms of the actual creative [side],
the show runners this year and [creator J.J. Abrams] are really focused on how to do that and how to make it realistic and
not campy. There are certainly some fun examples of how she can embrace that in the line of work she does. But we also
don't want to put her in situations where she's endangering herself and the baby, so there's this suspension of disbelief
that, I think, won't take place then." McPherson also said that there will be "some very, very big changes" coming to
the show early in the season which are tangentially related to the pregnancy. Since Garner will be limited in the kinds of
action scenes she can do, the show will be adding a younger character who will become Sydney Bristow's protege. "Some
of [the changes] we will get from characters that we're adding," McPherson said. "She's going to get to be mentoring a
younger agent and you'll be able to get some of that maybe sex appeal, if you will, in different places. But I think you're
going to see a really interesting and dynamic Jennifer in that role." ALIAS will return in the fall in a new timeslot on
Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF
Peter Coyote, currently in Fox's THE INSIDE, will be moving over to ABC's COMMANDER IN CHIEF, playing the vice presidential
nominee chosen by Geena Davis' President Mackenzie Allen. Jason Wiles ("Third Watch") has also been added to the cast in a
recurring role as the first female president's deputy press secretary. The casting of Coyote and Wiles follows on the recent
addition of Natasha Henstridge as President Allen's main political rival's (Donald Sutherland) chief of staff. Created by
writer/director Rob Lurie ("The Contender") the cast also features Kyle Secor, Ever Carradine and Leslie Hope.

DISCUSSION TOPIC
This could turn into a summer project!
With the start of a new SciFi Friday schedule, the SciFi Channel has included FIREFLY into the mix. It has 13 episodes to
show -- and then they will probably re-run them, as they do the other SciFi Friday episodes of STARGATE, ATLANTIS and
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they included BABYLON 5 into the SciFi Friday mix? It would help
with the repeats and bring back an old favorite -- and introduce some new sci-fi fans to a drama that we all know and
love. What do you think?
Send in your thoughts and comments to sgbruckner@aol.com. I will post them on the
Discussion Page for everyone to
share and enjoy. There are some good ones so far. Add yours! If you see an old topic you
want to respond to, go right ahead. We enjoy hearing from you.

Channel soon. Here is information so that you can mark your calendars:
"UFO Hunters"
Airs on Monday, August 1 at 8:00pm ET
They look to the stars, to Earth, and within the human body. They are the UFO research elite that seeks answers
to the mysteries of the UFO phenomenon. Their determination, attitude, and methodologies stand strong
against ridicule and disbelief. In the end, UFO hunters exhibit scientific evidence that pushes the boundary of
modern-day thinking. At annual conferences, they share findings and are often stunned by the commonality
of their cases. Follow UFO hunters as they search for UFOs and investigate crash sites. Their hunts for physical
evidence of UFOs and alien life forms sometimes end up as global wild goose chases, but there are other times,
when what they find is just too intriguing....and might just prove that it is possible that we are not alone in the
universe. TVPG
"UFOs and the White House"
Airs on Monday, August 22 at 8:00pm ET
Did you know that the office of President of the United States has had a direct involvement with UFOs for over 50 years?
Since WWII, every Chief Executive has publicly discussed, issued, or received documents from the White House pertaining
to "Unidentified Flying Objects". Many of these documents have never been seen on television before and some of the
stories surrounding these UFO-presidential encounters are broadcast for the first time. Find out which administrations
had to defend our country from unidentified objects...who was sitting in the Oval Office during the biggest UFO sightings...
and how the government's UFO files are handled, depending on political affiliations. We'll gather the facts and glean
information from presidential libraries that reveal startling insight on UFOs and the White House. TVPG
PAT TALLMAN:
Pat, who we all know and love as Lyta on Babylon 5, also has an extensive history in horror films -- NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, etc. She
was recently interviewed by the Icons of Fright website and you can read more about this side of Pat's career at
Icons of Fright. Pat sent along this note for horror fans out there. LAND OF THE DEAD will premiere shortly and you won't want to
miss a thing. Pat writes:
" Dear Horror Fans!
Last night I was invited to see the Los Angeles premiere of George A. Romero's LAND OF THE DEAD. It stars Simon Baker ( a Penny Lane
supporter and star of the tv show "The Guardian") , John Legiuzamo, Dennis Hopper and more. It was great! I am very squeamish when it
comes to horror movies, ironically, and I have to say I missed a lot of KNB's incredible effects burying my face during the worst of it. They
were so REAL! The acting was great, we even laughed a lot ( intentional on George's part!) , the evening was a huge success. He got great
reviews in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. George hasn't made a film in a while as you may know. He is the best when it comes to
these kinds of movies. He started the zombie craze!! It's so wild because he is the warmest and kindest guy. AND he needs our help.
Universal hasn't put very much money into advertisement. What a film makes in it's opening weekend determines the studio's future
decisions about what films will be made and filmmakers will make them! It is imperative we go out and see LAND OF THE DEAD this
weekend and cast our vote! If you want to see more sci fi and horror films made, make sure you see the ones that come out on the
opening weekend! Please take a friend and go be entertained this weekend by seeing Land Of The Dead! Cast that vote!
Stay scared!
Pat"

The destinies of most people are defined early on. Then there are the others -- the lost. Those whose numbers aren't in yet,
who could go toward the light or toward the darkness -- indeed, who could be tipped one direction or another. And everything
starts with the book. That's what Jonathan is about to discover. When he took a suicide plunge off the London Bridge more
than a century ago, the last place he expected to land was on his feet, in the present, standing at the entrance to a tunnel
into a world of mysteries beyond his wildest imagination. A world of powers and principalities and, above all, rules that
he'd best learn quickly. Or he'll have to deal with the Dark Man. And what the Dark Man can't turn, he devours.
