What's New

UPDATES: I know it may be hard to find the things that have been added to the page each day, so I'm going to try a couple of different methods. Today, I'll use this color for all updates. Tomorrow the update's information will revert to the color of the rest of the page. Only updates will be in this color. Hopefully this will help you identify NEW items.

GALLIFREY REPORT

Ranger Kailin has sent in the first part of her report on JMS' panel discussion at Gallifrey last weekend. Drop over to the Reports Page and have a look!

NEW MESSAGE BOARD

We have a new message board at www.isnnews.net/board. Three topics have been set up for this week's discussion topic, upcoming conventions and a general Zocalo Today area where we can talk about anything, including the content of the newsletter. Topics can be expanded as needed. There are already some great topics on the board created by the ISN News staff, covering B5 and Crusade. A few brave souls have left messages already. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.

A number of people have asked where to pick up the issue once it's out. Most of the bookstores carry the magazine. The current issue has Voyager on the cover. If you see that in the store near you, you should be able to find the B5 issue once it comes out.

CHRONOLOGY MAKER - TERRY JONES

Have you seen the Babylon 5 Chronology yet in the Babylon 5 magazine? If you have, you are amazed at the amount of detail packed into it. Terry describes how he developed the chronology in a brief interview. Check it out on Interview page.

BABYLON 5 ON AOL

As some of you know, AOL shut down the Babylon 5 Forum on Sunday. I'm told that B5 isn't totally gone from AOL though. There is a new public room -- Town Square-Eclipse Cafe open for b5 chatting. Thanks Ranger Steve for the info.

RISING STARS #5 IS OUT

I picked up issues of the comic before I left town -- so this isn't really NEW news. But the issue looks great. There are letters to the editor in this issue as well as a number of extras. If you are having a problem with getting copies, let me know. I'll gladly send them out to you.

OTHER SCIENCE FICTION NEWS

FIRST FRONTIER

A new science fiction series is in the works -- "First Frontier". LightWorX Productions is trying to gather general information about potential fans such as demographics, merchandising, preferences in science fiction shows, etc. Basically, they want to find out what the fans want so that they can create the best show possible. The survey will only be available for a few more weeks, closing around mid March to review the results.

The site URL is http://www.fortunecity.com/tattooine/wilhelm/173/index.html.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA -- I didn't get to see the Magellan clip Richard Hatch was to bring to the convention, but I did see his Battlestar trailer. It was SUPERB! You can see the care, love and desire to get this project off the ground ooze from this production. Richard Hatch has done something quite wonderful in bringing this to life. Visit Battlestar Galactica for more information.

BABYLON 5/CRUSADE POLL SITE

From: "Jim Green"

Some of us have put together a B5 Poll Site, http://57132117.home.icq.com/B5pollpage4.htm, and a Crusade Poll Site, http://57132117.home.icq.com/Crpollpage.html .

There are now two for Crusade and two for Babylon 5 from us plus links to four outside polls. This is open to the whole B5 community.

The Deja polls rate Crusade and B5. Thanks to our community, they are now 1 and 2 in the Sci-Fi ratings.

You can suggest topics and question and vote for future ones. We are also looking for links.

Give us your opinion, thanks

BABYLON 5 CHATS

There are a couple of regular chats that you might want to take advantage. One is over at About.com. Mike Helba has organized a weekly chat on Wednesdays at 10pm EST. http://babylon5.about.com/entertainment/babylon5/mpchat.htm.

Another chat is starting up at Groucho's Yahoo Club site. The chat is scheduled for the first Sunday of each month beginning at 5:30pm ET on Sunday. Groucho's is a good place to drop over and chat anytime. I've found a pretty good group of people there at lunchtime (12pm EST).

ADDITIONAL REFERENCE PAGES

I've added a new page to the reference index. This page covers magazines like DreamWatch, TV Zone, StarBurst and others that have covered Babylon 5 and Crusade over the last several years. This index will expand as I add more issues and new magazines.

If you have magazines that have featured Babylon 5 or Crusade that are not listed, send along their issue number and a note to indicate what the article was about. It would be nice to have a fairly comprehensive listing of Babylon 5 publications here.

While watching one of my old "Blake's 7" tapes last night, I spotted Christopher Neame (Knight 2 in "And the Sky Full of Stars") playing a Federation military nasty in the fourth season episode "Traitor". He was younger, thinner, and didn't have anywhere near as much hair as he had in the B5 episode.

JMS SPEAKS

Last updated: February 14, 2000

This section has a lot of information, directly from JMS. Read about working with WB in the early days of the show; his upcoming "Amazing Stories" short story and production of "Rising Stars". What does he think of Jerry's upcoming campaign? Check out the latest in the JMS Speaks section.

KEEPING UP WITH CAST AND CREW

John Vickery (Neroon, Mr. Welles) is currently starring in a production of "Waiting for Godot" at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles until April 30. He is not in every performance as the theatre alternates actors in the roles, however you can get more information about the play at http://starriders.net/jvickery .

Tim Choate's play "Medea" by Euripides, opened this past weekend. Tim plays Jason (of the Argonauts and Golden Fleece fame). Performances are every Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 6pm through March 12th at the Knightsbridge Theatre in Old Town Pasadena. BABYLON 5/CRUSADE IN PRINT

OFFICIAL BABYLON 5 MAGAZINE - Issue #20 . The theme of this issue is "Time Travel". Stephen C. Smith examines the nature of time travel and looks at the science behinnd the time travel events in Babylon 5. The special Babylon 5 timeline continues in this issue. War Without End - Part 2 is featured in the Station Log and Zathras takes center stage in a number of features. I have to admit, the feature on The Zocalo Today is really, really nice!

** If anyone needs a copy of Issue #19, let me know. I have a couple extra copies.

TV Zone #123 - Are you interested in visual effects or fantasy art? Then here's an issue for you. Wayne Barlowe, the artist who brought the creepy creatures in "Thirdspace" to life is interviewed in this issue. The sketches showing his early perception of what was needed in this TV movie are awesome.

TV Zone Special #36 - Bruce Boxleitner talks about his new book, "Frontier Earth", his work on the B5 CD-ROM "Into the Fire", shooting the final episode of Babylon 5, "Sleeping in Light" and a lot of other topics.

Dreamwatch - Issue #65 takes a look at the Babylon 5 movies, "In the Beginning", "Thirdspace", "River of Souls" and "A Call to Arms". I'll agree with the assessment of Wayne Barlowe's graphic effects in "Thirdspace". Awesome! There is also a review "Crusade" along with some nice photos.
